When I was making countertops I would give the good customers a cutting board to match their countertops made out of that sink cutout run a router around it twice and poof happy people that get you more work.

I would think touching the end with some solder right when it cuts apart (but still red) would be a good addition to this method?

I've welded hundreds of tube clusters and never had to drill a vent hole. This is a solution to non-existent problem. I have even tried to create the problem to no avail. It's a silly urban myth among fabricators. Think about it: no tube is ever a perfect air tight fit. As you start to weld the tube, it heats up the air inside , it expands and it has all kinds of places to escape. By the time you get to the end of the weld the air is inside is the same pressure as the outside. There is literally no way to create high pressure air inside the tube just as you close the weld. Doesn't happen. Can't happen. And after tube cools, the air inside actually contracts, creating negative pressure, so if go back to do another weld, it simply expands to its original volume. Also if you needed this, every time you weld up your vent hole, the tube should blow out.

Excellent teaching ! 6061 T6 .010 thick material could be formed I believe . Hardcoat Anodizing could allow stiffness, and wear resistant surfaces, and color dying. I have c n c machined solid material, and your teaching teaches this. Thank you Thank you

I'm a private pilot. I built a Van's RV-9A and have the Repairman Certificate for my airplane. Retired a few years ago (computer engineer) and went to a Part 147 School to get my A&P. Five semesters of full time night school. I just got the A&P in August 2023 under the new ACS. You are very correct in saying that A&P's don't get any LSA training. I got zero LSA related training. Also didn't get any advanced avionics or electronics training. The ACS for Mechanics is very much tied to ancient (>50 year old) technologies. I will probably never work on a turbine, but I had to learn all about them for the A&P rating. Same with pressurization systems. I would greatly support your proposal for additional "type" ratings for engines, advanced avionics, electric propulsion, and vertical lift. The proposal for an online add-on to the A&P for LSA related knowledge areas makes a lot of sense.

Please consider including wording in your comments to the FAA that would permit a LSMR to perform condition inspections on experimental aircraft that are both amateur and factory built and that are complaint with Mosaic. Note not all experimental aircraft are amateur built (i.e., exhibition, racing, etc.).

I really appreciate the effort you all put into this and then sharing. I'm very interested in LSRM for simple, certificated A/C. I think the "add-on", endorsement and web based training (where appropriate) are the better answer as you discussed. THANKS!

Folks… some good information here… and it’s obvious that you are concerned and passionate. Respectfully though, this was difficult to watch. Instead of concise sharing of information, it came off as rambling and verbose, and occasionally almost angry. Too many long winded examples used means you don’t think your audience is smart enough to understand and needs stories and pictures. I really struggled to get through it and resorted numerous times to blipping ahead. The tension in the gentleman’s voice belayed what seems more like a fear for your training program, then constructive suggestions. Don’t get me wrong… I believe I agree with you. But it was difficult to get there! I would suggest a much shorter, concise video wherein you summarize issues, potential impacts, and your recommendations into a 15 - 20 (at most!) minute video. Start linking that to various social media pilots groups for better outreach. Respectfully.
